  • U.S. Retail Week 42 (Nov 16-22) Forecast: Along the East Coast it's the coldest 3rd week of November in over 16 years with freezes deep into Central Florida. The Lake effect snow machine is in full gear with 12"+ along the favored snow belts with flurries in the big cities from Washington to Boston. Demand for cold Fall items will be strong double, even tipple digit gains this week. While the East is winter-like the West is having the warmest week in 13 years.                     
  • U.S. Retail Week 40 (Nov 2-8): It was the second week in a row to have a record setting snow storm impact the U.S., this time it was South Dakota where 45.7" was reported in Deadwood. Overall it was a very warm week but a series of cold fronts were ushering in much colder weather for the Eastern half of the country.                     
  • OCTOBER 2008 U.S. RETAIL INDUSTRY SSS: Retail industry same-store sales came in at -0.9%, worst in several decades. Seasonal categories had strong double digit gains indicating the consumer is buying only the must have items. October was the 5th coldest in 16 years, driest in 5 years and 2nd snowiest in a decade for the nation as a whole.
